May 11th Meeting recap:
1) New Fun Run start/end location and routes (as a trial) for June and July.
Meet at Mel Diva's back outside deck (Mel Divas Opens at 7am). Run's will
start at the same times as currently and distances will remain 3,6,10.
Courses will be determined and posted on the website by end of next week. If
majority enjoy it, we'll stick with it for a few months until we move to the
Big Apple Fall courses in Wrentham.
2) The Pub Run's have been revived! We will have one each month in June,
July and August. We will start at 7pm and end at Tom's Tavern in Wrentham.
Courses are 2 miles and 3 miles and flat. The Pub Run's will replace the
Thursday Track workouts on June 16th, July 14th, and August 11th. These
run's are also open to member's and non-members and we will post in local
newspapers inviting others to attend the NC Pacers Summer Pub series...
3) Kristen Porell has volunteered to start a NC Pacer sponsored "JR Pacer
Summer Run Program". She is looking for others interested in helping her
organize it. Let us know at ncpacers@comcast.net if you are interested in
helping her coordinate a weekly kids program this summer. NC Pacers will
help with advertising, volunteering and other support (as well as provide
our kids as participants!). Kristen would like someone to help coordinate
and manage it with her.
4) I am ordering NC Pacer Wind Jackets Friday. I brought samples to the
meeting (they are New Balance and of high quality water and wind resistant.
I have orders for 15. The total cost will be around $60 with NC Pacer logo
(jackets will cost us $50, but retail is around $80+). IF YOU WANT ONE, and
have NOT told me already, please let me know no later than Friday morning.
We have Men's and Woman's sizes (they run one size small). IF YOU HAVE
ORDERED ONE, please give us or mail a $60 check ASAP. 4 Jack's Way,
Franklin, Ma. Unfortunately, we will not be able to pick up the jackets
until we have everyone's payment. If it comes to less than $60, we will
refund the balance. If it comes to more, NCP will pick up the difference.
5) We will be starting an "informal" Saturday morning Fun Run. These will be
posted on the website. It is designed to accommodate people who run both Sat
and Sunday's as well as conflicts with race or personal schedules on
Sunday's. Check the site weekly as the starting location will change. Maybe
Mike Switzer will start a Member Forum Saturday Fun Run Topic and those
interested can sign up for email alerts for that Topic.
6) There are a few who have expressed interest in trail running. Let us know
and we will put you on the 'trail running' email list.
7) Steve Sherlock is our webmaster. Send him your running photos, stories,
ideas for the website!
8) Hill training start time has moved to 7pm for the summer months. same
location - Tri County High School Franklin.
9) NC Pacers Member Grand Prix series got off to a slow (or 'no') start. So,
Steve and I will determine new point system so it is NOT competitive against
other members, but instead you get points based on how well you do versus
your own prior times for the same distance and for the place you finish
versus your prior best place finish. More details to follow.
10) The NC Pacers in the Hancock road area have offered to once again host a
member and family/friend cookout and party. We're going to try to do it
earlier this year (instead of Chilly October!) Dates TBD.
